What material is suitable for rubber joints used in chemical pipelines with strong acid and strong alkali media?

2025-08-01

PTFE-lined flexible joints are an improved version of traditional rubber flexible joints, featuring a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) lining.
This structure combines the elasticity of rubber with the corrosion resistance of PTFE, making it suitable for use in extreme operating environments.

The PTFE lining resists corrosion from strong acids, bases, and organic solvents, making it suitable for use in pipelines handling corrosive media such as chemical and electroplating applications.
It can withstand high temperatures, with some models operating in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 120°C.
The rubber body provides excellent vibration absorption, reducing pipeline noise and displacement stress. It also supports axial, lateral, and angular displacement compensation, accommodating pipeline installation deviations.

Categories:
Carbon Steel Flange: Suitable for general corrosive media, lower cost;
Stainless Steel Flange: More corrosion-resistant, suitable for high pH or harsh environments;
Some products support clamp-type installation.

The structural design features a smooth inner wall to reduce fluid resistance and media residue, adapting to thermal expansion and contraction of the pipe, preventing connection failure due to displacement. The standardized flange connection design facilitates installation and maintenance, and supports a variety of pipe specifications.

When selecting a flange, consider the corrosiveness of the media, temperature, pressure, and displacement. Also, confirm the PTFE purity (≥99%) and rubber formulation (for aging and temperature resistance). Provide parameters such as the pipe inner diameter and flange type to ensure compatibility with the piping system.

Applications include systems with corrosive media such as acid/alkali transportation and pharmaceutical equipment; pipelines with high temperatures or containing particulate matter, such as those used in power plant desulfurization and sewage treatment; and pipeline connections requiring vibration compensation, such as those in the oil, metallurgy, and building water supply and drainage industries.
